A Beautiful WWW posted a great primer to machine learning. Among the recommendations:
- The Elements of Statistical Learning: Data Mining, Inference, and Prediction, Second Edition (Amazon or free PDF)
- The open source stats package R
- Some data sets from UCI Machine Learning Repository
- The MIT OpenCourseware machine learning course
Though that’s enough to get you started, the author promises to add on as time goes by.
