From my point of view, blogging’s future will likely flow down one of two paths: either it will evolve and grow into something else (like many species have) or it will succumb to Darwinism and become extinct (like the Dodo). Let’s take a closer look at each.

The key points are represented by my favorite mind mapping tools: MindMeister. Take a look at the map below and comment on what pops out at you. Click the map to visit MindMeister to view and interact with the map.

No need to join but if you are interested, find information on MindMeister here.

I was first on the list at the local library for the new book The Numerati so I decided to take it on a business trip last week. I started reading on my first flight and by the time I reached my layover airport, I decided to buy the book at an airport bookstore. Of course, I paid full price but at least I could start writing in the margins!

I’ve started a mind map of some of the key concepts. It is interactive in the frame above or click on the map to collaborate and add your own information at Mind Meister. Just create a free account. Or, for less than $50 you can create a premium account which will allow you to create an unlimited amount of shared maps. This seems like a neat opportunity to try a relatively new form of collaboration. Tell me what you think in the comments.

This is a bit of an experimental post. I have been mind mapping How to Measure Anything: Finding the Value of “Intangibles” in Business while reading the book. I use FreeMind because it is free and easy to use. While trying to find a way to publish my mind maps to the web (eventually to http://wikibooknotes.org) I found MindMeister.com which allows editing maps online by multiple people. I signed up for a free account, uploaded the FreeMind file, and clicked share. Now I can embed this map into my blog. Try repositioning the map by dragging within it’s window. Expand and contract nodes by clicking.

If you’d like to try editing the map, leave a comment for this blog post with your email address and I’ll send you an invitation. (Your address will not appear in the post.)

Here goes…

See How to Measure Anything for a direct link to the map or click the map above.
